Damascus, Aug 2 Syria on Tuesday carried out anti-drug trafficking operations along its border with Jordan in the southern province of Daraa, newspaper al-Watan said.
Citing a military source, the newspaper said the Syrian army and security apparatuses carried out joint operations in the border region with Jordan “as part of the comprehensive plan” put forward by Syria to hunt down cross-border drug traffickers.
Many suspects were arrested and various types of weaponry and weed confiscated.
The move came a few days after the first meeting of the Syrian-Jordanian committee for cooperation on combating drug smuggling in the Jordanian capital Amman early last week.
