New Delhi, May 17 The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday conducted searches at 12 locations in an on-going investigation of a case related to alleged espionage against a person allegedly gained illegal collection of sensitive information related to national security which was shared with foreign intelligence agencies.
The Central probe agency raided at 12 locations including Delhi NCR and Jaipur at the premises of the accused, identified as Vivek Raghuvanshi, and others in an on-going investigation of a case registered under Section 3 of Official Secret Act and Section 120-B of Indian Penal Code,CBI said in a statement.
CBI registered the said case on December 9, last year, against an accused on the allegations that accused was involved in the illegal collection of sensitive information including the minute details of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) defence projects and their progress, it said.
Sensitive details about the future procurement of the Indian armed forces, which reveal the strategic preparedness of a country’s classified communications and information relating to national security, and details of the strategic and diplomatic talks of India with its friendly countries and sharing classified information with foreign intelligence agencies, it added.
During investigation, certain documents containing sensitive information were recovered from the possession of the accused, claimed CBI statement.
