A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck Atux city in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The quake occurred at 9:46 a.m. local time with its epicenter at a depth of 10 km. Residents in Atux and nearby areas felt the tremor but not strongly.

The earthquake’s epicenter is in a mountainous area about 1,400 meters above sea level, far from cities, with the nearest village 38 km away. As of 11:20 a.m., no casualties or property losses have been reported. Nine firefighting vehicles were sent to the area for assistance.
