New Delhi, May 22 Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his Deputy Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his residence and announced their support to him for the campaign against the BJP-led Central government.
Two days after the Central brought an ordinance on ‘Services’, Kejriwal said the Opposition must come together and defeat Centre’s unconstitutional ordinance in the Rajya Sabha.
“If the opposition defeats the ordinance in the Rajya Sabha, then it will be like the semi-final of 2024, a strong message will go out that the BJP government is set to go,” said Arvind Kejriwal.
Emphasising the collective resolve, Kejriwal added that the AAP has the support of Bihar CM and Deputy CM, who stand firmly with the people of Delhi. “Together, we will fight against the injustice inflicted by the central government,” he alleged.
In further pursuit of garnering support, Kejriwal announced his upcoming meetings with prominent opposition leaders. He will meet CM Mamata Banerjee, followed by discussions with presidents of all opposition parties across the country. “We seek their support against the Centre’s unjust ordinance,” he stated.
At the same time, Kejriwal will also go to meet Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray. He will meet Thackeray in Mumbai on May 24 and Pawar on May 25 in Mumbai itself, the Chief Minister’s office communiqué said.
According to a statement issued by Delhi CM’s office, Nitish Kumar, expressing shock and surprise, criticized the Centre’s decision to reverse the Supreme Court’s order, which hindered the elected government’s ability to fulfill its responsibilities. “We are with Kejriwal, and as opposition parties, we will jointly campaign across the country to protect the sanctity of the constitution,” he asserted. Tejashwi Yadav echoed the same sentiment and expressed concern over the harassment faced by Arvind Kejriwal’s government, even after the Supreme Court’s ruling. However, this will only make him stronger, and the BJP will never regain power in Delhi,” he said.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Kejriwal said, “I would like to thank Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav and all the other leaders who have come here with them today,” he said.
